The Hamilton Watch Company was founded in 1892 when the Keystone Standard Watch Company was forced into bankruptcy and sold at a sheriff’s sale to a group of Lancaster, Pennsylvania entrepreneurs whose “objective was to build only watches of the highest quality.” The Hamilton watches have unique shapes personality and design combining the American spirit with Swiss technologies. As Hamilton enters its 120th year of timekeeping this year, to celebrate that Hamilton presenting Khaki Navy Pionner Limited Edition watch at 2012 Baselworld to mirror the brand’s deep-rooted maritime history. A finely crafted contemporary interpretation of the classic marine chronometers produced by Hamilton in the 1940s, this precision timekeeper doubles as a wristwatch and table-clock. To commemorate the year of its creation, this model will be produced in a limited edition of 1,892 pieces; each model will come with an individually numbered and accompanied by a wooden watch box made of Para rubber tree. Quite similar to the original model created 120 years ago; it not only can be worn on the wrist, but also placed on the table to display the time.
It is equipped with Swiss made 6498 manual winding movement adorned with the iconic decorations and brand’s unique anniversary sculpture. It comes in a stainless steel case with a diameter of 46.5mm, its silver-tone dial is treated with satin finishing; the handmade navy blue pointers are similar to the hands used in the marine chronometers produced by Hamilton in the 1940s. The stainless steel bracket in special design enables the watch instantly transforms into a clock, it is also can be matched with a leather strap.
